Comodo - how to get rid?

I've been setting up a new laptop. I've used the free Zone Alarm for years so downloaded it from File Hippo. In the installation process I came to a window with option to tick ZA as my search engine and something else. Passed on that, but the next window was basically insisting that I ticked the relevant boxes, or the installation process was going no further.
So I scrubbed it and downloaded the well reviewed free Comodo, however having done so I then realised that though I thought I'd simply downloaded the firewall, there appeared to be anti-virus as well. Well I'd already downloaded and installed free AVG which I've also used for years, so I attempted to uninstall Comodo via Windows Control Panel add/remove programmes, but without success! I've also attempted to get rid of it via CCleaner's uninstaller, but again no luck.
So what on earth is going on with these 2 firewalls? Have they been taken over by MS or what? Or have I gone totally doo lally?
Any help would be appreciated!.

It may be worth you running the Zone Alarm and Comodo Removal Tools just to see if they pick up any of the remnants that are still on the system.
They can be downloaded from the links I've included above.0 -
Windows firewall and avast free may prove a better choice, outbound firewalls and associated bloat can clog up a machine.!!

Both of these links took me to the same place, a supposed ZA uninstaller, but downloaded other stuff but NO ZA uninstaller!!!
Not too pleased!!!David.0 -
unless you clicked on the big download now button (an advert for speedupmypc), it should have downloaded this
http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/free/support/download/clean.exe
if it's new, you could always factory restore it!!
