Changing suppliers with existing debt

I'd like to change suppliers, but I've still got about £100 oustanding with my current suppliers EDF.
Would I have to clear this debt with them before moving on or will the debt be transferred to the new supplier?

It depends on the suppliers policy of how much is outstanding to whether they let you go or not. Some let you leave when you have less than £250 outstanding, so you might be ok.
This amount does not transfer to your new supplier and you would need to come to an arrangement with the old one to clear it along with paying the current consumption with your new supplier.0 -
As saver_sam said it depends on the company, they can object if £1 or more has been outstanding for more than 28 days and most of them will if they can!0
