Dublin Airport to City Centre- for you day trippers

Hi new(ish) here. Sorry if this has been posted before, did search with no luck.
Just back from Dublin yesterday(5/6/07) on my 4p ryanair daytrip.

If you want to get in and around dublin from the airport - cheap - use the day rambler its €6(euros) for all day travel on dublin bus including the air link!! just validate on each bus using the wee machine.

better than paying the €6 for each way travel on the airlink or air coach!!!

http://www.dublinbus.ie/fares_and_tickets/daily.asp.

Also if when you get back to the airport, head to the ticket machine and be nice to someone. I gave them my ticket cos its valid until midnight and they even offered me cash.

thanks for having me here.

Phil

Yes, I noticed this deal too. But if there are 4 or 5 travelling then you can also get a 5 day rambler ticket (basically 5 adult 1 day tickets) for 18.30euros. This saves quite a bit of money.

4 of us are going next wednesday and i pre booked the tickets on friday and they arrived today.

Nice one. Myself and Mrs Baker are going to Dublin for the day in a couple of weeks so I've purchased a ticket online for us.

    Thanks, skintlarkin

for all you moneysavers ,In Ireland you pay 15 cent tax for a plastic carrier bag ,so bring your own bag
  • Just my 2p's worth but.. I found no real need to purchase one of those rambler tickets, Dublin is small enough to walk round.. besides the traffic is that bad it's quicker on foot.
To get from the airport to the city jump on bus 16a outside the airport terminal, it's about 2euros each - make sure you have the correct money as drivers do not carry change.

We didn't use the Rambler ticket for anything other than the Airlink bus no. 747. It runs directly between the airport and the city centre quicker and more frequently than the other buses that serve the airport. At a cost of 8.50 Euro for both of us and no need for correct change it was very convenient.

  • My sister and I were in Dublin for the day this week (used 1p Ryanair flights in succession to get to France) and got a family rambler ticket - €8.50 all in is far preferable to €6 each, each way for the express 747 bus!

Also, if you go here http://www.cultureheritageireland.com/ and print out the discount pass, you can get some pretty good deals on touristy things - in Dublin and the rest of Ireland.
