The hard drive on my iMac failed, a known issue apparently.
When I took it in, they noted that the screen had swirly marks on it, which I said had been there since day one and which I assumed were a function of it being a large (27") screen.
They had been a minor irritant and I had tried to clean the glass but not made much difference.
When I collected it, not only had the HDD been replaced but so had the screen. Now seems perfect.
Always dubious about buying extended warranties, but paid £200 for the AppleCare in November 2010. These repairs would have cost about £600.
Well done Apple, Trinity Centre Leeds

It does seem to me that if the original issue is a known fault, and the other was inherent from day 1, then both issues should have been attended to without any additional warranty cover anyway.
However saving that, at least the staff didn't ignore the second fault, which many would. (I can't even get Samsung to fix an obvious fault because they don't see it!)0 -
Given that the computer is 3 years old in November, I was impressed.
Interestingly, though, Apple's own website talks about EU wide consumer law giving up to 6 years protection against faulty goods - have never seen that on another manufacturer's website.0 -
My son had to take his MacBook to the Apple store in Brighton last week as when he turned it on the screen was just blue!
As it's nearly 2 years old and out of warranty we were expecting a hefty repair bill but they quoted the EU rules to us and replaced the logic board and display for free (should have cost over £800).
We were definitely impressed!xxx Nikki xxx0 -
Yup great service from Apple.
I took my 5 year old Macbook into the Apple shop in Lincoln and they fixed it for free same day. Really impressed.0 -
I am also a big fan of the Apple Plan, but I also think their repairs are rather expensive. I half suspect they put silly figures on the bill to make you think you got a really good deal!
Like when I got a receipt for £120ish for a new battery. I paid under £700 for the machine (student discount), and I don't believe the battery is worth a sixth of the cost.0
