my partners daughters was dumped on us by her mum (dad didn't have contact for a few yrs previously) we claimed cb and asked csa to assess her mum as she has a job and her daughter was at college and she refused to pay towards this) the mum received a letter from csa and 2 days later asked the daughter to go back the daughter is 17yr old we had to be in receipt of cb which took 6 weeks to process to be able to claim csa but a week after going back to her mums she had dropped out of college and mum claimed cb and put in for csa (amazingly quick to say it took 6 wks for us) from us she lived with us for 70 days we had her with no financial help from her mum but because she went back to mums she couldn't be assessd for csa we have 4 children of our own now the daughter is doing an apprenticeship which she says she will be earning around 70 pound a week her mum is still claiming cb how can we prove to csa that daughter is doing apprenticeship we did ring ad they just say that pwc is getting cb so wont do anything

This is a messy one!
I know a bit about the CB/CSA interaction, but not sure....is the mother entitled to claim CB if child is doing apprenticeship?0 -
Thanks Nicky as far as I am aware she failed to complete the college course s wasn't able to go onto the next course due to rubbish attendance she is now doing a paid apprenticeship in which she takes home around 80-90 a week0

Some apprenticeships are accepted by the CB therefore the CSA https://www.gov.uk/child-benefit-16-19/training but they have to be unpaid as far as I know. If you know the mother is still claiming CB when she shouldn't then you should report her for benefit fraud.
Best to speak to your local MP about this one as the CSA can just bury their head in the sand about the CB issue and just wont listen to you no matter how many times you contact them over it.
