Google Mail Checker Multiple Accounts

Hi
I used to have a laptop running XP and Chrome and had an add-on that would periodically check our multiple google mail accounts (5) and if there was new mail, it would notify us in the browser.
This laptop has since died and we have bought a new one running Windows 8 and IE 10 which we want to continue using.
We're still getting to grips with Windows 8 but does anyone know of a similar add-on I could use that is compatible.
