I took a couple of video clips on my Android smartphone, then went to send them to someone via Whatsapp. I used Whatsapp as it's supposedly better for sending pics/videos than the standard texting system.
However, with both I got a message saying they couldn't be sent as the files were bigger than 16mb. One video is 1minute long, the other is 3 minutes. I've now checked the resolution setting and it's "Full HD" with other options of HD 720p, VGA, and MMS..
Am I right in thinking that this is a resolution issue? And if so, what optional setting should I use without the quality suffering too much?
Thanks in anticipation.

Quality will need to suffer, video files are decidedly large inherently! However MMS will be the lowest option, and have a length limit, so save it as a last resort and do a test with VGA (640x480) which is similar to regular (non-HD) TV. Many older/cheaper devices will find it easier to play than HD anyway, so they'll enjoy a smoother experience at tv quality (simplifying massively here, but it'll do!)0 -
Not resolution strictly, but filesize. Reducing the resolution will reduce the file size too, but also the quality. Send the files a different way. Can you use bluetooth? Upload to YouTube and send the other person the link (can be set to private).0
