help for carer returning to work

I am 55 and gave up my job 6 years ago to be a full time carer for my son (who is disabled) He is now leaving home to go to university. I realise when he leaves I can look for a job and will need to claim jsa......but I am worried incase I cant find a job/I have a mortgage/am a single parent
can anyone advise me what help I may be eligible for to get back into work

You should be able to claim JSA and to continue claiming SMI and CTB, although I believe that there's a time limit on the SMI.0 -

Yes, there's a two year time limit on Support for Mortgage Interest if you are on JSA.
