Connecting mp3 player to stereo

Options
I'm thinking of buying this stereo. I haven't had a stereo in donkey's years but I'm fed up of having to listen to music through an mp3 player all the time.

I know most stereos seem to have docks for ipods, but my mp3 player is a samsung one. I'd like to play music from my mp3 player through the stereo and I'm just slightly confused by what cable I need.

Do I need a USB to jack cable

Or a Jack to Jack cable?

I'm sorry if this seems like a stupid question but I really have no idea and would be grateful for some advice!

I would go for the Jack to Jack cable. there's a socket for it on the front of the Unit from the looks of it.

If you got the USB one there's np guarantee that your MP3 player would be compatible with the Philips unit.

Why not get a good pair of PC speakers?

For a fraction of the price it will work straight away with your MP3 player as it co,mes with a mini jack.

Do you even need the other functions of the stereo???

Why buy a stereo with an ipod dock if you don't have an ipod?. Any stereo with an auxilary input will work. Personally I would not buy a stereo without hearing it.

Does your mp3 player have bluetooth, some decent bluetooth speakers out there, gear4 makes some nice. I use the Gear3 blackbox, some decent sound from it.

Are you getting the stereo purely to play the mp3 or for radio and cd as well, if not then better of spending it on just speakers, as get better set of speakers and sound quality

    Thanks for the replies.

I know I don't need the ipod dock, but most stereos I looked at had one anyway. I just like the look and size of this stereo, and it isn't a bad price.

I would want to use the radio and cd player too.
