I think this place needs an "I've been a numpty" board

A rant at myself but nowhere else to put it!

Bought tickets to London and back next Wednesday via RedSpottedhankey with the vouchers I had got the return journey to £11 cash, not bad.

Checked every detail or so I though but on the confirmation page just after I paid horror of horrors I noticed the return leg was the day after I wanted it, the Thursday! How did that happen!

Quickly onto RSH see if it can be changed and it can, £10 a ticket and it has to be posted out, well only paid £12 for them and waiting for the dodgy postal service to get them to me by Wednesday morning is not on so had to replace them.

So I have a couple of tickets on Chiltern from Marylebone to Birmingham Moor St for sale if anyone wants them :). 20:15 gets into Birmingham 21:59 but crucially it is Thursday 25th July, not Wednesday 24th July grrrrrrr.
I started with nothing and I am proud to say I still have most of it left.

    Doh!

Accidents happen when booking, at least it was only £10 and not £100

I had something similar, had to change my journey to see my dad as his hospital appointment changed. I had first class advanced ticket from London to Hull bought for about £15, it was cheap, I changed it with a £10 admin fee, but it would have been cheaper buying a new ticked for under £9 first class! (it was easter time) Still cheaper than a regular return though!

At least you admit it's your own fault, Many users on here prefer to blame everyone else for their mistakes.

I've not used redspottedhanky but I hate those websites - usually holiday ones - that, when you click the 'back' button, take out your original selection and substitute it with some strange one of their own choosing.

I had a 'call' from a lady who had done a big 'shop' in a store, then when she got home she found a £7.00 off when you spend so much, that she could have used.
I advised to see the CSD at the store with the coupon & receipt but it was at their discretion.
'That's alright' she remarked, 'it's my own fault'.

I thought what a refreshing change, it's what I would have thought/done - must be more careful next time.
I used to work for Tesco - now retired - speciality Clubcard
  • Pollycat - exactly. Its something similar with Rsh.
The one I did was a special trip to Birmingham for my Mum and son. Can't remember what I did but luckily had enough time to change them. It doesn't remember preferences either so I need to re imput passenger and railcard details.Prefer to use East Coast nowadays. But am paranoid about checking dates etc especially when booking more than one ticket.

Worst one was Wightlink Ferries. I realised a day or so before going the return was wrong. I had the tickets for weeks before. I didn't realise at the time you were allowed one change anyway.
    Back on the trains again!

Makes you more willing to help when people are polite, doesn't it. I messed up a John Lewis order last week, didn't realise until today, called them up and admitted my mistake - they upgraded me to next day delivery so I'll still get the items on time ;)

And then try and post in the consumer rights board lol!
  • The majority of "Aerodynamic Improvements" on my car have been my fault. I recently had to ring the insurance company to get one of my "Aerodynamic Improvements" fixed as it had gone wrong and completely wrecked the side of my car.

Insurance company "So sir who's fault was it"
Me "Well I would like to blame the bit of street furniture I hit the car on but in reality it was me being a prat""

I am dreading this years renewal letter.
