Any recent graduates (last 3 years) who had a Barclays student account?

Ok, I went into my bank the other day and spoke to the man at the desk!! Don't speak to those on the counter - they know nothing but it's not their fault! Anyway, I explained the usual, graduation etc etc and he explained my options. He basically said that the account you have will automatically change to the additions one which is £5 chargeable per month but with all these freebies (I doubt you would actually need them!). He also said that this would most probably happen at the beginning of July which meant I would need to pay my overdraft off by next week. I'd rather do that than pay the fiver!! So I've written a statement saying that I want to keep my HE account and I do not given them permission to change it to additions unless I say so. But he did say that you can start with the additions and then cancel it whenever you can. But I suggest if you can pay it off do it or do it asap if possible.

Hiya, I've been a Barclays customer since I was 11 yrs old, I graduated in 2005, my account was automoatically a higher education account. I have used telephone banking for a long time and if I ever spoke to an adviser they always tried to persuade me to 'upgrade to graduate additions account but I refused on account of the £5 charge and the benefits weren't really beneficial for me!!

However recently went to Barclays and saw a financial adviser type person (not someone on the desk) to open a joint account with my partner and I was told that as I am no longer a student I need to be on the graduate account and was given the grduate additions account, but when I said I didn't want to pay five pounds for the service, he told me it is now free?! My statements since March show Graduate Addditions (fee waived) - how long this will last I don't know, but if they start charging me I shall complain!
