help with Private sale

I sold a generator by private sale a week ago, It was in good working order when I sold it and showed the buyer it working and did say it had not had much use over the last year and was selling as we no longer use it. They phoned me today to say they had ran it for a day last week and the next day it would not start. They said they want to return it and have a refund. I really don't know what I should do as it was working when I sold it and they used it for a day, but then I would nit be happy if the same happen to me, if I take the generator back I will loose out to. Any suggestions? What rights does the buyer have?

As described the buyer has no right of return. You state you represented the item fairly so you can safely ignore the buyer, or do whatever deal you see fit.

Your choice really, you can tell them to do one.

Or give them a refund.

Of course, if yu hadn't sold it and used it yourself, it would have broken down on you within 24 hours.

Can you imagine how annoyed they are and how annoyed you would be if you were in their position.

Like I say, its up to you.
