But your original post certainly read like you have a vested interest, at least to help your friend?
My friend needs no help in that area. A guy asked about the company and I was in a position to give provide some information. Plus the query was related to taking a job there, not using the company's services (which I don't have experience of).
If you think I'm some sort of shill, report me to an admin. Otherwise, leave me alone.0 -
Probably a good idea not to accuse IFAs of being bucket shop organisations. There are around 30,000 IFAs out there (although closer to 20,000 are active in advice roles with others being support/training/compliance etc). IFAs have the lowest number of complaints despite handling the majority of transactions. The figures for complaints have been falling year on year for many years and the ove-rule rate has fallen as well.
To accuse 30,000 people of working for bucket shop organisations isn't a good basis to start your research.
Thanks for your insight Dunstonh.
I certainly do not consider all firms in this industry to be bucket shops. The purpose of the piece is too ensure grads are aware there are some unethical firms in the industry and give them some warning signs to look out for. It will be an unbiased piece and my own personal thoughts do not matter.
I have interviewed 4 ex employees of Perfect Day, 2 people who attended their interview and selection sessions and 3 former clients. I see no value in simply dishing the dirt on this firm but instead want to try and see what lessons can be learnt and what warning signals people can look for before joining and being caught up in a firm such as this. Many of those former employees feel their careers were seriously hindered as a result of their time there. Looking for more people to interview : whether you have a good or bad impression of your experiences with the firm I would like to hear from you.0 -
In that case you are barking up the wrong tree with Perfect Day. A good friend of mine joined them in 2002 and has done very well for himself.
They tried to recruit me at the time, but my understanding was, at least to begin with, it's like a sales job initially as you have to go out and find your own clients. I would imagine the first six months would be very hard and it all depends on your personality. I'm no salesman so didn't go for it. I would suggest that like most sales jobs, your basic salary will be low, but you can make good money if you bring in clients.
Thanks. Would love to hear from your friend and his experiences.0 -
I used to work @ Perfect Day - in fact i worked for Lamensdorf Consulting beforehand which then split to become Perfect Day. I would more than happily talk to you about both organisations. Let me know if you are still interested0

I had an interview with them a long time ago. They were involved with a lot of different things (one guy even bought a lot of Rovers' left over cars when they collapsed and was selling them on), but i think it was mostly insurance etc. It's a sales job, so the main skill you need is sales, not a super CV. They will do group interviews and get through tons of people in them.0
