I trade in all but the best games I have, the ones that i can see life in after completing it (well getting to the end not 1000G).
The main ones I tend to keep are the sport ones like forza, tiger woods that you can play forever if you really wanted to.0 -
mine cost me next to nothing so they end up being stacked up and never played again.. until my mate wants to lend them to boost his gamerscore...Sealed pot challenger # 10

I don't trade any in. A few years ago I sold a lot of my sega games but then regretted it and I have been trying to collect them all back again!0

So true - it's heartbreaking to see how little our games and movies are worth 2nd hand.
The worst part is, the longer we hold onto them for the less they are worth (unless they're rare or classics that may increase over time).
I managed to buy Final Fantasy VIII for PS2 pretty cheap and bought a few extra copies. I put them in my cupboard and forgot about them and a few years later flipped them on ebay for several times over what I paid.
But usually the games will just go lower and lower in value.
Best thing you can do is once you've stopped playing a game and can be honest with yourself and say 'I'm really never going to play this game again" - that is the time to sell it.
The longer you hang onto it the less it's going to be worth and isn't going to be worth your time listing it on ebay, if it even ends up selling at all.My cellar has boxes of consoles and games. I'll never play most of them again but I'm not keen to part with it all, especially the stuff I've owned since I was a kid.
I've only got a fit bits worth real money but all my consoles are boxed and pretty much mint so altogether with the hundreds and hundreds of games I'd probably get a reasonable amount for it all.
I never trade in or buy pre-owned, I just wait for the new price to come down so buy the time I get most new games they have very little resale value and I'm better off just adding them to the collection.0 -

I'd individually quote you all but it takes too long, but it seems like a lot of people tend to keep their games and build huge collections. Packrats!not that I can escape that title myself.

I used to trade them all in, but then it got a bit depressing, so now I have a giant book case filled with my games. I've got 258 that I still own that I've beaten, and 47 under my coffee table waiting to play (not counting steam). I'll never get rid of any now, not even if I hate them.0

For those who think the trade in/sell prices are too low to sell it's worth checking around for the best prices.
Games can vary in price between sites for selling online. Worth remembering there are fees and postage costs, but it's sometimes surprising how much certain games are selling for and if you can list for free then there's no harm in trying to sell it at a higher price and see if it sells.
I bought a really rubbish PS2 game in a 4 for £20 years ago. Sold it about 4 years later for over £11.There were others that were cheaper I think on the same site and on ebay you could easily pick up a copy for a quid or two.
I know that was a few years ago now, but I have sold stuff more recently for more than I paid and for more on one site than I could get on another.
For trade-ins, Game often have promotions plus both Game and Grainger Games will match and beat the trade in price by £1. Grainger Games did also beat cash prices, but not so sure if they are anymore. Blockbuster have also had odd promotions in the past and say they'll match prices, plus they have the reward system so you get points for game trade ins.
A few months ago (might have been end of last year), I bought a game for £2 that I decided I didn't like. I looked up all cash trade in prices, went to Grainger Games and walked out with about £18 cash.
So it is worth checking prices. Might take a little bit of time, especially with many games, but in the end you get more cash and more space.0 -
We tend to trade games in, usually when there is a new game we want, I commented to dh the other day about just how many games we would have if we kept them all.
Having said that no doubt they would have ended up in the loft with the boxes and boxes of gamer magazines dh insists on keeping!I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.0 -
My games are all DLC now, I don't think I've bought a physical copy of a game in years. Can't get much more eco friendly than that.
I don't have to have the disc in the drive for it to validate before it'll run for one thing
the few odd physical copies that I'm no longer interested in I'll sell on Amazon or eBay, if they'll sell. Tried to get rid of a copy of Gran Turismo 3 for the PS2 on MusicMagpie when I sold a box full of CD's recently and even they wouldn't take it. Can't sell it anywhere theres 0% demand.I don't trade any in. A few years ago I sold a lot of my sega games but then regretted it and I have been trying to collect them all back again!
For the really old stuff there are emulators available, all of the stuff I used to have for the BBC Micro is available and there are damn good emulators available + all the content you could ever want, all for the grand price of £0.00p.
Amiga and original PlayStation emulators work well too.Blessed are the geeks, for they shall inherit the Internet.0 -
I keep all my xbox games too.
A trade in will get me a few pounds, keeping it and playing it again will give me more hours of fun, those hours can cost more than the paltry trade in amount.
Even the original xbox games can be fun, my favorite is the ghost recon range, GR1 especially.0
