Shrinking cat food sachets

Does anybody else feel a bit annoyed at the shrinking weight of cat food sachets? The majority used to weigh 100 gm per sachet, but have now shrunk to 85 gm for the most part.
Who decided that our pets needed to have the size of their meals reduced & how do you explain to a cat, sorry but Mr Whiska's or whoever has decided to give us less food for our money now & whilst you may prefer to have 100gms per meal, you've just got to lump having less when you get a sachet meal?
I wonder if the same thing has happened to dog food, although I think the majority of dog owners buy cans and dried food for their pets.

The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

The Whiskas I have here is 85g.
What is even worse is the REALLY expensive mini tins, and some Sheba pouches which are 70g!!!0 -
Walked around Jolley's Pet shop the other month as needed to restock on kibble for my two and got 2 x 15kg bags of own brand kibble cost £20.
My friends have cats that eat dried food so we walked to the cat aisle and the own brand cat biscuits (that look like little kibble) were around £30 for ONE 15kg bag!!!!just in case you need to know:

There's some new-ish Sheba pouches out in packs of 6 x 50g. I bought a pack on special offer when they first came out (£1.50?). My lot LOVED them, they cleared their plates which is rare. (Normal price is £2-ish?). Now, I hate wasting money on expensive food which they leave, or even cheap food they won't touch, so a pack of something they love is a miracle indeed. Anyone with fussy cats watch out for Sheba 'Fresh Choice' mini pouches. But only on special offer!0

I only ever buy the individual sachets as a treat on my cat's birthday. Normally it's a large tin which goes in the fridge between meals as the price of sachets is too much for everyday use.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

Whiska's is now 85 gm in my area, as are many of the supermarket own brands, which I rarely buy as my cat doesn't always like. He does seem to prefer branded food.
I have noticed that currently Felix still do 100 gm sachets but my cat seems to quickly get bored if I give him nothing but Felix for dinner, so like to ring the changes. Also, I don't think it will be long before Purina decide to reduce the Felix pouch sizes down to 85 gm in line with the other smaller size now occupying the shelves.
I tend to give my cat breakfast from a can, which will do him 3 meals, but dinner from a sachet or foil tray. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I think pouches are a rip off full stop. My cats have food from tins and theres been no complaints. They also get bits of fresh meat and dried biscuits.
I know that pouches are just a marketing ploy and its just basically the same contents as the tins. Owners are just being conned into believing that they are treating their cats better if they get them a pouch. Its ridiculous.0 -

I totally agree with the above!! I am rather annoyed/dismayed that pouches occupy so much more space on the supermarket shelves than tins. Pouches are being pushed relentlessly by retailers - something to do with profits I should imagine. One of my friends says that her cat refuses to eat any cat food that comes out of a tin, yet if she offers the same brand and flavour from a pouch then her cat scoffs the lot. Maybe the tin taints the food somehow while the pouches don't. On the rare occasion I get pouches for my three cats they seem to love it more. They aren't going to get used to it though as I am not going to pay over the odds just because of the packaging.0 -
All this "my cat is a fussy eater and will only eat pouches etc" is rubbish. If they are hungry they will eat anything thats put down for them. Take a stray thats going through bins etc, its not holding out for a pouch is it?
Cats also when their feral and not so also eat mice/rats and birds and other things. So there not that fussy either. These are not a different species from a pouch eater.
To anyone who thinks there cat will only eat pouches, take it from me they will eat tinned food. Get them a tin from a supermarket and when hunger kicks in and they see you wont give in then they will eat it no problem.0 -
