If anyone could see me in my kitchen this morning I am sure they would be concerned.
I am attacking a 5kg bag of onions got yesterday. My but they are strong, had to give up as eyes just streaming. I thought I could do with a plastic bag over my head,
but Hey try explaining that at the inquest,
OK not a good idea, but maybe put the onion in a plastic bag, So I got a carrier bag on the table, flat, Lifted the side up and made a little tent, and worked in the bag, it really worked a treat. Five trays now dehydrating and four
bags prepared and in freezer, but I am not finished, I am sure there are now twice as many onions than when I counted them yesterday.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I was given a tip for onions when doing them for pickling - put them in a bowl of water and then skin them underwater. You can see what you are doing.
Hope this helps next time :rotfl:£10day.2014=3213/2015=3421/2016=3238/2017=2702/2018=498..APR=12.03/300

Well the throw things in a pan and hope for the best sausage hotpot thing was very tasty but  I'm still waiting for the damn thing to cool down so putting it in bowls instead of the plastic tubs wasn't today's cleverest idea. with the batch cooking I have planned for this weekend, I'm not going to have enough food tubs so thought I would portion into bowls today before transferring to freezer bags. Would be interested to hear top tips for cooling food down....
Sorry if hogging here but don't know how to multi - quote !!
If what you want to cool is in a saucepan, half-fill the sink with water and plunge it in. Stir contents around regularly and it will soon cool. Or put in a bowl and do the same but mind doesn't float (if plastic) or crack (if glass).
Hope this helps in future.
I had a NSD day today. For dinner we had the end of a ham joint chopped up with leeks in cheese sauce, duchesse potatoes to use up yesterday's mash and carrots.

Mr s last night for the last few bits for the final week of my GC month and I forgot to use my nectar points:mad: I spent a total of £24.89. This amount was well covered by the money in my account which is probably why i forgot to use the points but it doesn't help my monthly total:mad:
I did buy an extra 6 yogurts for DH for the week after next as the corners were half price making them the same price as mr t value ones and I bought 2 boxes of their value tissues as they are 20p cheaper than mr ts.
They had free from bread and rolls in the YS aisle so I bought some for next weeks lunches and some to take to mums this weekend. The rest have been frozen. I planned to buy 6 value eggs but thought £1 was quite a lot so bought 18 for £2.10 instead. I have been buying them from £land at 10 for a £1 but the mr s ones were a lot bigger.
Fruit, ham, tampons, hairspray and crisps made up the rest.
Spent most of last night in the kitchen! Made rocky roads for my mum as part of her birthday present, ginger cake and a cheese and caramelised onion bread to go with HM leek, potato and onion soup for our picnic today.
DH fancied a takeaway again last night but I said I didn't want one and he would have to go get it as DS was asleep. He ended up having an omelette and HM wedges with me :A
That reminds me, I almost finished the cheese last night so will need some more
My total is now £322.88 with 6 days left. I really need to do better than this next month.Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%

Have fun with your baking. I would bake with my ds when he was 3 and he loved it, no need to use a packet he liked measuring the ingredients and it all helps with learning, hes favourite job was shifting the flour. He now doesn't want to help bake, think the other boys have told him at school its not cool0 -

i bake with them properly too its just we have the packet in the house and my scales are my mums old ones and not so good. i need to update my kitchen
but no funds!!
I recently got a set of digital scales off ebay for £5 posted, they work just fine (although in my experience digital scales break easily if dropped and the batteries may need replaced). A set of measuring cups might be cheaper though, and just as good for baking.
