how to teach puppy to walk on a lead ?

Hi
At what age do you start teaching a puppy to walk on a lead and can anyone give me any tips on how to do it ? Ollie ( 8 weeks ) wears his collar now with no problems just wondered if its best to get him on a lead early or wait a bit and I dont want to panic him with the lead when I do try it.
Any tips are greatefully received

I would start now, drop treats next to you and add the word heel (as he approaches the treat).
After many repetitions he should 'get it', if he pulls I would get the treat by his nose and redirect him next to you
