Hi can someone advise me. I bought an item from Very.co.uk . I hve had some health problems but have been paying my account. I've got a thyroid problem at the moment on top of other problems and my memory is really causing me confusion at the moment. Unfortunately I was 4 days late after the final date of my Buy Now Pay later item and they have now charged me full interest. I rung up and the first advisor said she would email the Buy now Pay later team ive just rung up and have been told that the interest still stands but if I want to appeal I need to write to their Customer Excellence Team. Am worried sick as I can't afford the interest and it was a genuine mistake of 4 days. Has anyone any experience of this?

You are solely reliant on a goodwill gesture, perhaps if you can back up your case, with evidence that you are having health issues may help.
Not just with Very.co.uk but with many retailers, people end up paying interest on buy now pay later deals, for being just a day late.
Unfortunately because buyers have had xx amount of months to be prepared to pay, many companies won't budge.0 -
Hi pleasureoreilly,
From the information you have posted on here if your payment arrived after the payment due date was up then, unfortunately we would not be able to remove the interest that has been charged.
This is stated within the terms and conditions for the Buy Now Pay Later offer,
The BNPL purchase will be charged to your account on the first statement for which the payment due date occurs after the end of the deferred period. Once it is charged it will be part of your current balance and will become liable for interest and payment. If the BNPL purchase is not repaid in full by the first payment due date after the end of the deferred period the accrued interest will be charged to your account.
If you would like to send us your appeal we can send this to our Customer Excellence Team, for them to review.
Please email us at Network@VeryHQ.co.uk
Many Thanks
Nicola

Many people get caught out by these deals, particularly when it is done via a third party finance agreement.
I know a couple of people, who bought items and they went to pay it, but the shop said, it is the day you apply for the finance, not the day you get accepted or the goods are delivered, that payment needs to be by.
In this case, as you say, Very.co.uk, do give people notice on statements and also via text/email and possibly even their website, in your account section.
Seems like Very aren't going to budge here, which of course is their entitlement.0 -

For the future, do you have a calendar/ diary function on your phone? If so, set yourself reminders. I have memory problems but everything goes into my phone with an alert for the day before it is due.0 -
Thanks. Yes, have several health problems at the moment so can do that... Fingers crossed. Genuine mistake and it was already partly paid...0

im sure they hear excuses all the time, not having a go just saying
It also clearly states on the statement a month before payment is due0
