A little advice please

Ive been very stupid I know but any words of wisdom would be most welcome. I have bought from the Ebay seller quite a few times and never had any problems. However I purchased some items off of Ebay from her this are breakable figurines. I paid by Paypal and I arranged a courier to pick them up myself.
They have arrived 90% broken. The courier realised they had broken them and put tape all round the box but delivered it.
A this is a private sale I realise I have no come back via Ebay however do I via Paypal as I myself arranged the courier (no courier to the best of my knowledge covers breakables)
The seller packaged them up for me. I did not gift her the money via Paypal but used the fee paying option. We are talking £270 worth of goods

Aiming to loose 56 pounds this year. Total to date 44.5 pounds 12.5 to go. Slimming World Rocks!

Presumably, the seller's response was that since you arranged for the pick up and you sent your own courier to pick them up and it was your own courier, who caused the damage, why aren't you seeking compensation from them?

    Or something similar?

For collection items (which is essentially what this is, though you employed a 3rd party to collect on your behalf), I don't think you will win a SNAD case, as for collections, goods have to be inspected at the point of collection. ...But others may know otherwise. [And you can't launch an INR case, as the items are now recorded as having arrived].

did you pay the seller to pack them for you?

sorry I just went shopping and realised what I had missed out of my post. The reason I am cross as i'm sure you can imagine is that the seller simply wrapped a tiny amount of bubble wrap round the items and left them loose in a far too big box. They were destined to be broken. No care had been given to the packaging at all. Which is why I was asking about the seller

You should win a snad. Collection items are not the same as those sent via private courier arrangements.

This is the classic pitfall for both buyer and seller when the buyer is the one arranging delivery.

You won't get your courier charges back unless you try to do so via the courier, but if it were me and packaging was to blame, I would open a SNAD on Paypal explaining the items were all broken upon receipt. Do NOT cloudy the waters by saying you paid for the courier privately.

Escalate the claim and wait for Paypal to tell you to return the items.
