Hi,
I got a ticket from CMS today stating to pay £100 in 28 days or £60 in 14 days. Is it still the case to ignore these things? I'm a bit worried about this? has anyone been taken to court by these guys.
I had a permit - i just left it in my glove box. i have appealed stating my CMS reference number for the permit...but tbh im not holding much hope for an appeal from these guys
What is the current approach people are taking to this?
Cheers

Ignoring is only good if you are based in Scotland. Since October 2012 with the emergence of the POFA act PPCs can now pursue the RK of the vehicle rather than the driver, regardless of whether the RK actually was the driver or not during the incident.
If you are based in England or Wales, you are entitled to a POPLA appeal in the high likelihood that your appeal to the PPC fails. The PPC is obliged to send you a code to file this appeal.
Their response may or may not contain this code; it is a 10 digit code, and they may try and be cute and obscure it/post it in small text, so check the letter thoroughly. If there is no code, then request one, and when you get it, come back here and the posters who know about filing successful appeals will help you whack away this nuisance.0 -

I wish you'd asked sooner rather than just fire off a random appeal which probably admitted you were the driver and which was probably a response to the windscreen fake PCN? Neither of which are our advice...
Next time wait for them to write to you unless it's a company/hire/lease car. You have missed a trick by not waiting for a nice NON-COMPLIANT and easy to complain about 'Notice to Keeper' in the post. You won't get one of those now and really you wanted one for a stronger POPLA appeal.
And any appeal should be written in the third person so as NOT to imply who was driving - the response should only be worded in response to the Notice to Keeper (first postal letter), and written from the keeper (not driver, even if that was the same person).
Our advice is covered on most threads here so the best thing is to spend the weekend reading any threads about POPLA so you are ready at least to word the POPLA stage of appeal less hastily. You'll still win if you follow our advice but you've thrown away quite a few appeal points you could have used at POPLA stage if they now know you were driving. Ooops.
Tell us when you get your rejection letter and POPLA code.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

that's great advice! thanks. ill let you know when i get it through. I read the parking notice on the wall yesterday - which states there will be an additional £50 admin cost if the DVLA need to be contacted for my details after 28 days.
So the bill could eventually hit £150 if the appeal us not successful But fingers crossed it'll be fine!
thanks again0 -
That's a breach of pofa 2012 I believe . Did you take photos of thstWhen posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

And BPA guidelines as well. And POPLA would take a dim view of a PPC trying to price their service out of the market.
BPA should be notified when you get the photo.0 -
I haven't yet - but i can take a photo of it. It also states it on the parking notice i got from CMS. Ill definitely pursue POPLA once i get my code. Ill re-post on here before doing that once i get the code.
Thanks all - great help!0
