    what makes the ovetake manouvre illegal?

    Is it over solid white lines or chevrons or the like?

    Something similar happened to me a few years back. As I understand if you are the no fault party in a write off (and she has a witness) then you must be put back in the same or equivalent position as before the incident. This does not mean your daughter gets a £1400 car but that she gets a replacement car of the same type and standard.

    It was a water board vehicle wrote off my car (which was stationary over night at the time) and their insurance company tried to get out of it, even though driver admitted it. My insurers chased them down. It wasn't ideal because I had just had a new gear box installed and had to prove that but I did get what I considered a reasonable settlement in the end. It was a drawn out fight though.
