Equifax Vs Experian

Equifax Vs Experian

Hi there all, i have just had my equifax and experian credit files through

now the payment history on my experian files of my credit payments goes back a rolling 3 years

but my equifax credit payments for the same products appear to go back longer
can anyone tell me if equifax go back to when the account was first open
or do they have a rolling amount of time, say 4 years

thanks

    Hi,

I'm not 100% sure but i think it depends when the company/bank declare the details to the credit file people.
I have had a current account open for years and it has only recently shown up on my report.

    Hope that helps?

Experian hold details on your credit file for up to 6 years after the account has been closed/defaulted. For active good accounts there is only a monthly breakdown of good performance data for the last 36 months after which the data drops off. The original account open date will still be retained. However it is correct that it also depends on when the credit company started sharing their data. The Experian system is called CAIS (Credit Account Information Sharing) and each lender gets to see the same amount of information that they provide into the database. Some institutions especially banks only provide (share) bad data and so if you are not bad then this account will not show up on your credit file.
