need somewhere to stay near Liverpool with a dog

Can anyone recommend somewhere to stay within an hour's drive of Liverpool that will let us bring our small dog please? We want to go for between 3-7 days during the last two weeks of August. Our budget is £350 maximum. It would be nice to stay somewhere that has country or sea views but don't hold out much hope for our budget! Don't mind B&B or self-catering.

Hi Nenen. You could stay in Liverpool centre if that's what you're looking for. Have a look at the Campanile or the Ibis in the city centre - both allow dogs.

The Travelodge also allows dogs and there are a few in Liverpool. There's also one in New Brighton which has views overlooking the Mersey.

If you want to be outside Liverpool and just drive in each day, I'll have another look for you.

Thank you so much Zacsmum; I really appreciate your help. We want to be near Liverpool to go and see the Chargal exhibition at the Tate. However, we will probably only go into the city once during our stay, so it would be great if we could combine it with a few days in the country or, even better, by the sea.

this takes dogs and is approx 1 hours drive away. "Greenface" might also help

have a look around Southport, there are oads of Self catering around there. There are a number of caravan parks there too, one is Riverside caravan park and had vacancies for 2 people and one dog for late august for £388.

Southport is lovely and is only about 30 mins away from the Albert dock, where the Tate is situated. Loads of Beach to let the dog run around and Formby nature reserve for the dog to run in too nearby.

Three days at the end of August for £350 is easy,, seven days might find hard . What you want will be tight at aug B/Hols prime time in one of the uks best city venues . Is the Mathew Street Festival back on this year ? I cant remember . Barnacre Green Cottages might have what you want http://www.independentcottages.co.uk/wirral/holiday-cottages/barnacre Its privately owned in Saughall Massie on The Wirral surrounded by country lanes and farm land but less than 2 miles to beaches and train stations at Moreton and Meols (15 mins to Liverpool central by train and half hour by car max) This place is often doing deals on ebay so maybe they have that date and will do a buy 4 stay 6 deal etc . good luck. Im not a great fan of hotels with a dog you never have enough space and always on edge . Travelodge in New Brighton is 5 mins walk to the station and 20 mins to lpool . Liverpool has some great thing to see and do . Another place by Anthony gormley is at crosby for art lovers and just plain old dog walkers .
