Faulty mixer now out of stock...

I bought a freestanding mixer from robert dyas in February. I've used it a number of times but the mechanism has broken. I called customer service who told me to take it back to a store. Finally the store have ordered me a new one in from another store as it was out of stock locally. I've since collected the new one only to find it has the same fault as the one I have just returned. My question is, can I ask for a replacement of a similar type as these mixers are very difficult to get hold of now (and I'm not sure I'm confident in it) and do I have to pay to replace it if the only replacement available is of a higher price?
