Sanctions for giving up job

Hi
Just moved departments in a job and its become a nightmare. Began getting very anxious due to the work and hated going leading me to get very upset. Now off on the sick and have been given antidepressants by my doc.
If I left the job I understand that I would have my JSA suspended. I have paid off my mortgae, so if it was suspended, what happens after that? Do I get 6 months JSA before they look into my affairs, or do I miss that period?
Any help appreciated - not on talking to my boss etc just to do with the question please.

When you claim JSA they will ask why your job ended and you must tell the truth as they will then contact the employer to check. A decision is then made as to if and how long a sanction will be. While this is being decided you will get JSA. JSA contribution based lasts for six months inclusive of any sanction and after that it will be income based.

Stay on the sick and go back to your job after you have thought of the Consequences.
Its not much fun on the dole so stay in your job.

Thanks - not very often someone answers the question without judgement.
I was made redundant a few years ago and paid a chunk off my mortgage with the money. The dole people? said this was ok. If I remember, they asked me for my bank statement.
    Is this normal?
They said what is this transfer - I said I paid money off my mortgage and that was that.

Also, If I had 17k for instance in savings I get nothing - correct?

But, how much am I allowed to spend a month? 1k?
I currently take hoe about 1300 after..

It's not for me to judge you and your circumstances here.

If you have enough contributions then the savings aren't relevant for the first six months, it's only then that you would be claiming income based and savings over £16,000 mean that you get nothing and between £6,000and £16,000 it's a sliding scale. If you have a partenr then their earnings will also be taken into account then

Not sure what you mean, sorry.

Do you mean what can you spend your money on while you are sanctioned?

Or, what can you spend your money on while you are on contribution based JSA?

Or what you can spend your money on when you are income based JSA?

Basically, I suppose the answer is the same!

You would be expected to use your savings as living costs. So, normal things - utility bills, food, travel costs, insurance, council tax etc.

You wouldn't be expected to buy an expensive car, go on an expensive holiday, live a different kind of life to the one you lead now. They would be looking to see that you didn't use up your savings quickly in an extravagant manner order to claim benefits.

But you will have 6 months on contribution based JSA (if you have sufficient NI contributions) so hopefully you will find a new job before that time is up.
