Electrician problems - please help

Options
Hi,

im hoping someone can advise me regarding a problem i have with an electrician. Ive just had my house rewired & ive got some issues with the work that has been done. The electrician fitted some wall lights which wont switch off, I have to take the bulbs out so am unable to use them. Ive spoke to him on Friday & he agreed to come round on Sat to sort it out. He didnt turn up & now he's not responding to messages or answering his phone. Can anyone advise me if theres anything I can do? Im also waiting for the certificates & am worried if i go to trading standards or someone he wont provide these. Any help or advice would be really appreciated.

    Have you paid him yet?

If you have then write to him giving him a week to respond. if this doesn't work, write to him again explaining that you will have no option but to go to TS and his trade organisation - there are about 5, if he doesn't reply, rectify and sort your certs out within the week.

If you have not then you don't need to pay a penny until he's sorted it.

    A couple of things,

    Is the electrician registered?
If you are in England or Wales you can look the compotent persons register and see if the individual is registered.

If he is registerted there is a complaints procedure (I am in SELECT and NICEIC and have to adhere to certain standards, including having a structured complains procedure. SELECT are more strict- they can get another contractor to fix any dodgy work - at my cost if things go too bad)

Give him another call (but withold your number)
    baldly going on...
