Tenancy Deposit Question

Hi everyone,
Could anyone tell me how long a landlord has to return a tenancy deposit after the lease ends, if there is such a timescale?
I moved out of my flat on the 1st July, after my landlord decided not to renew the lease (I think he was planning to move in himself, but I'm not sure). The inventory and check-out was done on the following day, the 2nd, and I was not able to attend as I couldn't take the time off work.
I haven't heard a thing from my landlord since, either to tell me he is releasing the deposit, or to tell me that he is withholding any of it for any reason. I've contacted the letting agent three times, so far, and all they keep saying is that they will chase him up and let me know, and then I hear nothing.
The deposit is protected by the tenancy deposit scheme - I have a certificate.
I'm assuming that I should have been told one way or another by now. Could anyone give me any advice on the best thing to do, as the agents are being useless at the moment?
Thanks

It is your money not the LL's - Can't you just claim it back from the deposit scheme using your reference number?0 -
Apply to the scheme to request it back. Usually both the LL and the tenant have to complete their own part of the release process.0

You should be able to get your deposit back within 10 working days.
Now 30 of June was a sunday so you should get you money back by the 12th Friday.
Contact the DPS people and ask for your FULL deposit back0
