Worrying amounts of Royal Mail Underpaid mail letters

Check that they aren't confusing you with another business/machine number. If you are the only one using the machine and you aren't even sure you are sending the stuff that they are claiming is underpaid this could be the case. (I thought however it was done by the stamp number so shouldn't happen).
If it continues see if they will do an audit on your mail. We used to have one from time to time at an old employer - for one week they'd come in and pick up your mail and check it all for some reason. Not sure if it was to do with volume or the postage applied etc.0 -
get in touch with RM customer services
Think I'd rather poke myself in the eye with a stick than phone CS, the menu alone is enough to drive me nuts. Going through the depot to speak with revenue protection directly will be easier. In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0 -

Do you have a contact number for the mail centre?0 -

So no help to the OP
They have the option of twitter, email and phone CS in the meantime
feel free to shoot me down with alternatives but not by just slating my input.
As a side note,I need to dig through my files
Im sure I have a list of MC contact numbers somewhere
wont be today though0 -

So how was the_lunatic... supposed to help the OP when we have no idea of the location of their MC? And how are you going to help without the same information, are you going to post a list of every MC in the country?0 -

there's not many. If i can find the files then yes,I can provide those numbers
However as I said before,The OP has no need to wait on me0 -
Am I beingetely dumb? Is it not the recipient that receives the card from RM if the postage on the item is underpaid, not the sender? That would explain why the OP says they received a card in respect of an international item and they don't send items internationally.0

While I know very little about franking I suspect it gives RM a means of determining who sent the item (unlike an overweight item with a stamp on it) so they can ask the sender for the extra money.0 -

its different for account mail
RM knows the sender from their account details
so they can raise the costs and dont delay the item
If you keep an eye on your mail, you may see a letter marked "revenue protection,do not surcharge" or the like(more likely on PPI mail)
eg
appears it may add value
