It looks like they have let the loonies loose on the standard gmail system it is now slow and a complete mess.

    Do you mean the new 3 folder layout? I have had it on one of my mailboxes for a while and I don't mind it.

    Normal mail in one place, social media (FB, TW etc) in another and promotions (9/10 spam) in another.

    I tend to use Outlook or mobile app so don't really notice it

    The (default) Yahoo one is pretty annoying now, as well - there's a right hand column for adverts that means the browser level space-bar scroll can't be used to read the content.

    Settings > Configure Inbox and just untick everything bar primary.
