    A wireless one would probably be better as the bedrooms are not next to each other and it wouldn't be ideal to have wires trailing across the landing

    The netgear one I linked to would be my recommendation, as I said, there are cheaper ones available, see ebuyer, amazon, dslwarehouse etc. Make sure you get an adsl model, not a cable/dsl model. You will also need a wireless adapter (which is included in the linked package, but doesn't come as standard with every router).

    Assuming that the main PC near the phone point has an ethernet network socket, then that is all you will need.

    PS Both PC's would run faster with another 256mb of ram, https://www.crucial.com/uk
