they are taken by planes flying overhead

    I know.

This was the first link I found of the type that may be useful to the OP. i.e. at least it seems there is some kind of process for contacting Google about their concerns .

It's an out of date issue, not privacy or anything that needs urgent attention in google's eyes.

IMHO they'll do nowt, cos they don't warrant up to date imagery.

    I agree.

Nonetheless, if I was OP I would still contact them and create a stink - perhaps Google are more accommodating/PR-sensitive then we think

I would get the EA to mention it on the details (eg a little note saying 'Please note the image on google maps is several years out of date and the area was cleaned up several [years?] ago when the previous neighbour passed away'.

I wouldn't make it sound like it was too recent, or they'll expect it to all come back. If you say 'years ago' (presuming it was!), it sounds like it's a rectified problem.

People will flick through the photos of the add before they check out google maps, so I'd just make sure you have a photo and a little bit in it explaining as above.

You can also write to Google and tell them to rectify the image. I'm not a lawyer but I would demand they update or remove the image forthwith, failure to do so will lead to you incurring costs which knowing google are so large would be a fantastic story for press, David and Goliath type. Remember google maps already have issues in Europe with privacy etc.

Huh? Demand they update it? LMAO this is amazing!

    'Story for press'? Unbelievable

That's what I thought. It won't happen. They should simply brief their EA to make sure potential buyers are reassured the pictures are out of date. All this contacting Google to demand this and that is asinine at best.

Google satellite images are provided by various companys such as Europa Technologies, DigitalGlobe, TeleAtlas etc. Google just sticks 'em all together lol
write to Google and tell them to rectify the image forthwith
    Yeah. that'll work

The images are updated every few years. I can see what my area looked like in 2002, 2006, the last update was 2009 - by using the time slider in Google Earth.

You should contact your local MP or take it to Watchdog, what a heinous crime! ;)
