HELP Jet2 trying to rip me off!!

Hi
This is my first trip to the forum and I wonder if you can help me as I am pulling my hair out!
I am off to Portugal surfing this year for my summer holidays and booked a flight with Jet2.com to this purpose. The flight cost me 88 quid, not cheap but fair for the time of year I thought. I proceeded through the online booking and then phoned the call center (at a cost 0f 10ppm) in order to book my board onto the flight, as instructed.
After 12 minutes of listening to adverts I finally got through to an operator who attempted to book my board onto the flight. I was asked how heavy the board was (under 20KG - fine) and the dimensions of my board. Upon hearing my board was 7'6" the operator informed me the maximum board length they could accept was 6'. This surprised my as 7'6" is a mid size board and there are very very few boards under 6' on the market.
Accepting I couldn't change the dimensions of the plane and its hold I asked politely for a refund. I was told that jet2 is a 'no refunds airline' and no refund would be forthcoming. After explaining the main purpose of my holiday and the fact I had only just booked my flight (20 minutes previously) I was offered a refund, LESS 35 POUNDS.
To compound this further, in order to receive the partial refund I have to write an email to Jet2 stating I accept the charge. This is the only option I have been given.
Had I not read the web site section on outsize luggage carefully (http://www.jet2.com/FaqSection.aspx?ss=1) I could have maybe accepted this. However the section pertaining to surf boards and outsize luggage states maximum weight but makes no reference to size. I therefore am left to ask the for advice. Has anyone out there experience similar problems and can anyone offer any advice that is likely to result in a full refund?
I kindly thank you all for taking time to read this extremely long post.

I bet if you phoned up the local airport who fly with Jet 2 you will have no problems with your board as i have seen low cost airlines accept boards before with no problems (but i did once get turned away as i had an umbrella).
You should have booked online really to save the call cost or even tried sayno20870 as they *might have a local number for them.
Overall you should be fine though phone the airport first.. unless anyone else has tried this?0 -
Phone Jet2 again and speak to someone completely different. Maybe the previous customer services agent lost all reasoning and faculty.
I've been fobbed off and sometimes ringing at a different time means that you speak to someone who either knows their job better or has more compassion. The man without a signature.0 -
