I have a copy of all 3 reports. No missed payments ever!

Mortgage, phone bill and credit card all paid on time in the past 10 years.

Balance on credit card £0 out of a £500 limit.

Permanent full time job and address. Credit 'score' 890 on Experian.

Call Halifax, said they cannot say why all I can do is write to appeal!!!!!!

What alternatives are there for currency. Too scared to apply for any other cards now. As previously mentioned, we need to carry about £2k in 3 different currencies!

My favourite are Norwich and Peterborough debit card and Metro debit card. Metro card is issued on the spot when you open the account in London.

Both cards have no fees on anything whatsoever, so are even better than the Halifax Clarity. That is unless you need a card with a credit facility for car hire etc.

We have a Clarity card each, we have the lowest rate, 12.99% I think.

We travel abroad for 2-4 months each year and use our cards for everything.

Purchases are no problem, exchange rate is good.

On cash withdrawals we pay about £1 per £100 withdrawn per month.

We have DDs in place to pay in full every month, we have never bothered to try to pay as soon as we are home.

Last year, withdrawing about 1500 euros over a 3 month period cost us about £13 in interest. There are no other charges.

If you also have a Halifax Reward account, spending over £300 per month on the CC gets you a £5 Reward, so it really does pay for itself!
