I am purchasing an ex motability car that is 3 years old. The mileage us just over 46k. Does this seem high to anyone else. I thought motability could only do certain miles?

Nope. you can do whatever miles you need. Entirely possible that a disabled person could work a job requiring high miles, and so put them on the car. My mum has a motability car, and there was no stipulation on milage.
Don' buy it if you think it's suspicious.0 -
Yes there are mileage limits, as a motability user you can exceed this, you just pay for the excess, under some circumstances motability will allow a person to increase their mileage allowance.
The mileage allowance for most is 60,000 over three years then there is a 5p charge for every excess mile, some cars have a lower limit, my wife has a motability car and hers is 25,000 which is very low, it is because the type of car she needs to use depreciates in value very quickly and so motability will make more money if it has low mileage.
The below is from the motability website
"60,000 mileage allowance over three years
You get 60,000 mileage allowance over three years with cars. However, if the total mileage is higher than the allowance when you return the car, there is a charge of 5p for every additional mile."
I don't think 46,000 is that high, you have to think that the previous user may have had to use it for all trips, so what for us might be a quick walk to the local shop they may have to drive and even having to go to various car parks in one trip to town etc.0
