:TThis is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning all, its Friday :T

So looking forward to the weekend, off to work for me, but finish early so not too bad. Another beautiful day, I could really get used to this, it also seemed a bit cooler in the night which helped sleep.

Omlette and salad tonight with bread and butter, the eggs are from the chickens I am looking after, so nice and fresh.

Will do a wash when I get home and put it on the line overnight.

Need to drop dd at work this morning and the dog of at my mums, so had better crack on.

Have good days all xx

Lame wolf, so sorry about Mary what a cracking little dog x

Morning everyone ( and redruby, you must be typing):j

It's still very hot here this morning and I had an uncomfortable nights sleep so I need coffee today to keep me going.

Just packed hubby off, it's his half day today so that will be lovely to seee him home early. The girls are up and about and the evil kittens have been fed and cleaned out so so far it's all going well!:D

Pizza for tea with some salad and garlic bread. I don't like having the oven on for too long in this heat so I can just about cope with 15 mins lol.

Checked my bank account this morning and we have been given an Income Support payment again. My OH has phoned them a couple of weeks ago when they did the same thing and they assured us it would be sorted so I've written them a letter now so hopefully now it's in writing they will take the money back.....lovely as it is to see a healthy bank balance I won't touch it as it's not ours. Still waiting to hear about Working Tax Credits. I've filled out a form for the housing too as I'm worried we are building up rent arrears but they all want 5 payslips and we've only got 3 so far so I'm taking them in each week. Phew, form filling is very nerve wracking and I've had quite a few sleepless nights because of it.

My lovely friend Clare is coming to see me this morning. We try and get together for a coffee at least once a week but the last few weeks have been really busy so we have a lot to catch up on:rotfl:.

Hope everyone gets to enjoy the sunshine and as always gentle hugs for all who would like one.
    Cheers m'dears x

    Morning :hello:

Picked some broad beans the other day, I assumed they were going in the freezer but mr tru ate them with pie and mash – in this heat! I told him he was insane :D

Went to Clevedon a couple of days ago, ate a picnic in the shade, went for a bit of a walk then sat in some more shade :D It was too hot so we came home after a couple of hours. Stopped outside Bristol airport so mr tru could take a pic of a plane about to land, and stopped off at a farm shop.

Yesterday we went to Fairford to watch the planes arrive, I find a lot of them boring but love the super-speedy loud ones :D The French display team were showing off, it was fab. I tried to film it but didn't get much on my cheapy camera. I was trying to film while walking backwards, they turned into the sun – I thought I'd gone blind, stumbled, staggered backwards and just about stopped myself from falling on my bum :D

The chickens have been paddling in trays of water and Timmy has had a couple of cool baths :D

We're shopping this morning, I'm looking forward to it, Morrison's is always cool. I need to stock up on fruit, I've been pretty much living on it -along with salad and rolls - for the last couple of weeks. You'd think I'd show a bit of weight loss, but no. Ggrrrr :D

  • Good morning everyone :)

Off out for a day in Wales today so just popped in while I am getting ready.

LW - Mary was such a lovely dog. Thanks so much for sharing her photo with us

Julie - sorry to hear about your knee. I had massive ligament reconstruction after a skiing accident 27 years ago. My surgeon told me I would need a knee replacement by the time I was 40 but am 56 now and while I set off the occasional alarm at airports (due to the amount of metal in my knee), creak a lot and ache a bit in cold/damp weather, I have still managed to keep my original model!

taplady - please take it easy and make a full recovery soon

Cold meats, cheese and salad for dinner and hoping to get a cheap lunch out.

Lots of overnight washing on the line and bedding in the machine to go out when we get home.

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super sunny day :)

    Morning everyone

Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x

Brilliant sunshine and already very warm here. Washing in the machine, will put on line later. Plants watered.

DH and DS1 up and off to work stupid early.

DS2 finishes school for summer hols today - he's had enough - hoping when he goes back things improve!

Dinner last night was HM bacon, mushroom and cheese quiche, with salad (which had HG salad leaves in it but nothing else HG as tomatoes are not ripe yet), new potatoes and pasta/coleslaw salads etc, ice creams for dessert. Tonight will be something quick with chips as meeting the menfolk at the caravan straight after work as want to put some bits into the caravan so when we come back Sunday with the new (new to us) caravan we won't have as many trips to do to take everything back.

Was slow and steady yesterday didn't realise just how hot it's been getting in the middle of the day - working in an air conditioned offices you don't notice just how hot it is outside! Although it was hot I did manage to do a pile of ironing and a couple of jobs on the pc. Again although way too hot was calm and satisfied without getting into an overwhelmed state of mind - so just did what I could.

This morning I will be going to town, the bank, and then food shopping this morning - will be sorting through all the bags etc to make sure I take bedding, crocks and pans to cook/eat from etc and toiletries and changes of clothes for everyone, we're only staying 1 night and will be leaving first thing Sunday morning so won't be late back. Of course will be taking my camera.

Have a good day - remember the suncream if you're out in the sun!

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning all

2 Banana breads in the oven and pasta sauce made for DDs tea, decided to cook early on as it gets too hot. 2nd sofas covers on the line, the first lot are back on (who would buy cream linen sofas?) Also washing the throws that go on them, just hoping the line holds up to the weight.

Need to go shopping this morning, it will be the last before our holiday so not too much to get.

Taplady - Hope you recover soon.

    Take care. XX

    Morning all,

I was up with the men this morning determined to get the bulk of the housework done before it gets too hot.

I gave two paracetamol to hubby this morning with his early morning coffee. I'll message him at 2pm to remind him to take another two.

Lamb for tea I think. I'll probably do hubby his mash but i'll have something else. Last nights garlic dough balls were a success with the menfolk. I'll do them again I think. The chocolate fudge cake was not such a success. They complained it was too sweet. Good job I didn't make it myself or i'd have been majorly offended at the faces that were pulled.:(

Bits and pieces I need to do today including checking my Gas/Electricity account to see if we are still in credit. When its a bit cooler I need to sort some more rubbish for the bin men.... just in case I don't have the time to do it the weekend. I need to check my bank account too at some point.

Keep cool all and have a good day.:)

    Morning all

    Another lovely day.

Tappers nice to "see" you. Take it steady after your op that's an order!. Hope the lads are looking after you.

Well exactly a week until DD flies in for a month. Need a little chest of drawers for the spare room so might go to IK*A later. Looking forward to doing lots of things with her especially mother and daughter shopping trips. I miss these.....Need to start cooking her favourite food and putting some in the freezer. Lamb tagine is first on the list as lamb is very expensive in Japan and not liked much as the smell is considered to be unpleasant.

Well have a good day all and help yourself to the freshly brewed coffee and croissants.
