memory information

in Techie Stuff
i have installed another 512mb memory module which makes about 1 gig in total.
its installed ok but when i checked system info it says

Total physical memory 1.024.00MB
Available physical memory 509.84MB

just wanted to know if this is correct because i would have thought it should be 900 and something physical memory available.

    Wot O/S are you running and where are you getting those figures from?

    right click on my computer icon and then in drop down menu select properties(at bottom)..then read off or type what you read in to this thread then we can comment

    Sounds normalish to me, you have 1 Gb of installed memory and half of it is being used by all the programs that load at startup and anything else you're running at the moment.

    I concour ^ just means you are currently using about half of it. - so you in theory should have seen a speed increase in installing that memory :)
