    Maybe learn a little history:
although you have previously shown some distain for any knowledge.

People started moving out of Africa about 60,000 years ago to seek a better live.

    They have moved ever since.

Maybe reflect on how USA was populated: or the Welsh valleys or Manchester or indeed any area of the world.

I wouldn't dare to engage in a debate about the extent to which Africans populated America in their search for a better life.

My earlier posts are entirely in accordance with yours - the difference is that the government, as well as the opposition, is clearly signalling that the guaranteed comfort levels, to which you have so often referred, can no longer be relied upon.

If you are making an assumption that these levels of welfare support will continue for the foreseeable future, then you are making the same mistake as the claimants themselves.

No I didn't say or imply any of that.

People have moved from places with poor job prospects to places where there are more and better jobs for thousands of years.

It's how USA was populated; it was how the Welsh valleys were populated and so with other of our major regions and cities.

It continues today both within countries and with immigration.

It's simply people using a little initiative wanting to make a better life for themselves and there families rather than waiting for a state handouts.

There are a lot better places in the USA than Detroit.

There was a joke on Family Guy once about the mayor of Detroit deciding to surrender and giving the city back to the Hurons.

Detroit has been a basket case ever since the riots of 67. They could probably demolish most of it and nobody would notice the difference, so long as they left 2468 West Grand Boulevard alone.

But I thought high public sector spending was supposed to rejuvenate economics. How come Detroit isnt booming?
Faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

Detroit's major contribution to global culture. (That and the Stooges). Of course Motown left Detroit at about the same time as everybody else left Detroit (and therein lies the problem). But there's still a museum at 2468.

To quote the Mayor of Detroit yesterday:

    "What you want,
    I ain't got it.
    What you need,
    I don't have it.

    All I'm asking,
Is a little Chapter 9 Protection.
Hey Creditor (just a little bit),
In the legal system (just a little bit).

    I'm about to give you,
    Very little money.
    All I'm askin' for,
    In return honey.
Is to give me Chapter 9.
To avoid legal travails (just a, just a, just a, just a)
Yeah baby (just a, just a, just a, just a)
To avoid legal travails (just a little bit)
    Yeah (just a little bit)

    C-H-A-P-T-E-R
Find out what number 9 means
    C-H-A-P-T-E-R
    I ain't got yo money"

And I bet they'd all just bought new houses with 100% mortgages.
