Old PPI claims

We had loans many years ago some , probably , as long ago as 1979/1980 and have no details except the names of banks we had loans with .
Are we too late to claim ppi ?
If we are not too late how do we go about obtaining the necessary information to lodge a ppi claim .
Thanks in advance

I am 99.9% sure PPI did not exist then. I've never come across one prior to mid 80's yet. Are you serious, you want to chase a refund on something over 30 years ago? Yes you are too late. Is this hoax?0

No its not a hoax its a reasonable question on an internet forum that suppose to be about ppi claims .
We had a lot of loans going up to the mid 90's .
I will ask the qustion again is it too late to claim .
Answers from less sarcastic contributors would be appreciated0 -
At present you haven't given any indication that you ever had PPI. Would be opportunistic chancer seems to just about sums it up.0

You are not claiming, you have to complain.
To do that, you need evidence you had it. To do that, you need documentation. After 30 years I'd imagine the banks have destroyed the documentation, but if you want to check that, send each bank a SAR and £10.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
true, but PPI didnt exist in 1979.johnnyquads wrote: »No its not a hoax its a reasonable question on an internet forum that suppose to be about ppi claims .
yes as PPI was commonly available in the 90's. you are talking 1979. its like claiming you had a dvd in 70's.We had a lot of loans going up to the mid 90's
34 years ago, you've had the answer ....no. im not even sure a firm can time bar that as the limitation act was 1980.I will ask the qustion again is it too late to claim .

What's your problem roonaldo ??
Since making my first post on this site you've called me a hoaxer and some one else has called me an opportunistic chancer .
Wow. Welcome to the site johnny .
Let me just clarify my question .
Nowhere at all do I suggest I had ppi in 1979 . I said I had loans from
1979 onwards , I then went on to say in my first reply that I had loans up to the mid 90's . Incidentally I know for a fact that I did have ppi on some of these loans . What I don't know is when it was intoduced .
What I'm trying to ascertain is how far back ppi claims can be made and how I would go about obtaining the relevant information if I wanted to make a legitimate claim .
I've been screwed backwards by banks with charges for donkeys years and if trying to get a little bit of it back through lodging a ppi claim makes me an opportunistic chancer then so be it . I'm an opportunistic chancer. Probably much the same as half the country who have made succesful claims after suffering years of banks profiteering activities ..
I would be very grateful to anybody who would give me the information I am asking for withour resorting to mocking insults .
I'm just trying to get some information .
Once again , thanks in advance .0 -
this is probably the best thing to do.You are not claiming, you have to complain.

however, if they provide loan agreements from 1979/80 surely this would breach the data protection act? (that hadnt been invented yet!) as "Personal data processed for any purpose shall not be kept for longer than is necessary "0
