Intensive Driving Courses

I used a private local company when I learnt to (drive some years ago)and haggled on the price and had the test included on the seventh day ,passed first time and it cost me £65 passed in 6 lessons and went on to obtain all my driving licences all on intensive courses and all first time passes.
I would suggest you need to be confident and you also need to have studied throughly beforehand and be able to apply the theory to the practical lesson later in the day.
I used a pedal cycle around my estate talking myself through the actions I would have to complete in a car and recalling the highway code..
Practise, practise aim to learnt all the theory and relax.

Have a look on www.2pass.co.uk about intensive courses.I had a week long onein 1996 and it was a total disaster. The horrid instructor sepnt more time outside the car leaning on it having a fag as i wouldn't let him smoke in the car.How unreasonable am i:mad: "You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

I use to worked for BSM for a short period, unfortuately unless you request an instructor that works for them that has been recommended to you, and you know is a good one, BSM will just assign any instructor to you, like any large organisation they employ a a large number and it is pot luck whether you get a good one or a bad one and most good ones leave and go by themselves, as I did, once they gain a bit of experience.
The pass rate on intensive courses is very low unless you have had quite a few hours previous experience of learning, either with an instructor or other person and your car handling is up to a reasonable standard before you undertake the course.
If you are new driver that has never sat in a car, think about how much you have got to learn in just seven days, all the basic car controls, general driving skills, road position, approaches to roundabouts and junctions, dual carriageway, overtaking, the manouvers etc. all up to the required test standard, some people are naturals and can pick it quickly but they are very few and the majority take much longer.
Sitting in a car for six to eight hours a day concentrating on driving is is extremely tiring for an experienced driver, for both the instructor and the pupil it can be exhausting there is so much to learn, I personally never did intensive courses and never recommended them to anyone.
You did hear of people that had passed after doing one, but it was very rare and they were few and far between.0
