Help!! Credit card payment protection

Hi, wandering if anyone can help?

To cut a long story short my sister suffers from Temporomandibular Joint Disorder
(Heres the link to her web-site http://www.bethmalsbury.co.uk/)
and has had to go to the USA for treatment as it is unavailable here and is unable to obtain any financial support from uk government.

The company which has held all her donations - http://www.charitygiving.co.uk
Is being investigated by the charities commission and all the funds they hold have been frozen, this includes all the money for Beths treatment.

My parents have given money via this using credit cards (Marks & spencers & Tescos) they are obviously very worried and my mum rang Marks & spencers Credit card helpline to see what will happen and if they will get their money back from the credit card company should they lose the money whihc was deposited into charitygiving. M&S were useless, they would not give a straight answer but what they did ask is if the doctor will continue with the treatment my mum said he will for the time being but will obviously want paying soon (he has been very understanding) and they basically said if the treatment is able to continue they will not do anything and gave her a number to ring, which turned out to be the citizens advice bureau.
Does anyone know how we stand on this with the credit card companies as it is basically my mum and dads live savings which have been frozen & the doctor in the USA has already had his last payment from charitygiving declined, and as understanding as he has been, is obviously (and understandably) want paying.

Thanks for reading any advice would be very much appreciated.
