I had problems on and off the other day. Saying my log in details were wrong.0

I've not been able log on properly for a week or so now.
When i log in, it takes straight to my profile. I fill that in, then when i click the enter button, it says that my email address is already in use and i should use another email address.
I've reported it to Gov. Gateway and their email reply quotes:
You have a problem when you log into your account it take you to the profile page. There is an option for you to transfer your email address, click on this and follow the instructions. You will then be able to access your account.
Please, excuse my ignorance, but i cannot find the option to transfer my email.
Could anyone point me in the right direction, please?
