Hmm, I've always been a bit dubious about that claim, when a biscuit is bitten it breaks into pieces, I just can't see that it does much good for keeping teeth clean. Teaching your kitten to have her teeth brushed would work much better.

When I researched this issue, I found that apparently cat biscuits (at least some of them, in particular those specifically made for dental problems) don't break as soon as the tooth touches them, the tooth sinks in it, and some plaque is released in the process.
I looked mainly at prescription biscuits, the smaller they are the less helpful they are, I expect (particularly when they are so small that cats swallow them whole).
(my problem with those biscuits was that the ingredients were rubbish, particularly considering how expensive they are, but turned out they wouldn't be needed anyway so didn't have to worry about that).

In terms of good quality dry food, if that's what you give them, the best I found were orijen (very expensive) and applaws.
I personally give mainly wet food, although dry has some benefits, cost, convenience, and a necessity when we are away for 1-2 days as we use an automatic feeder.
However I would not be happy with feeding just dry or mainly dry. When it's very hot like now, I would worry that my cat wouldn't get enough liquid and could get de-hydrated.
However it's about personal choice, I've not seen any definite evidence that good quality dry food is likely to cause serious damage to your cat, or the other way round that it has some fantastic benefits.
However I would never feed poor quality biscuits like Go-cat, whiskas, Iams. They have too little meat and too much grains (and also soya that is likely to come from GM crops) for my likings.

But as I say it's about personal choice.
