Monitor Display Problems

Hi
I’m hoping someone can help me. I’ve got a new LCD monitor and the settings are far too bright & cannot simply be adjusted with the usual monitor settings, as even then it’s still too bright and does not look right.
My monitor is a HannsG HU196D and does not need a driver (or so the manual says), Win XP picks it up as a “Plug and Play Monitor” and I have it running at 75 Hertz (tried 60 Hertz, but at 75 it runs more smoother in my opinion). It’s connected up via a DVI cable only (the VGA cable is not connected - Not sure if this makes a difference???).
My graphics/video card is a ATI Radeon x300.
To adjust my settings I went into DISPLAY > SETTINGS > ADVANCED > COLOUR and from there I turned down the Gamma by 0.3 and everything’s prefect.
However when my computer boots up (Win XP Pro), initially the colour/brightness is to the profile I created above, however once Win XP has fully loaded then it reverts back to the default colour setting & I have to physically go through DISPLAY > SETTINGS > ADVANCED > and I then click on the COLOUR tab to bring back my settings.
Here is a screen shot when it's in the default mode:

And below is how I’d like it to stay always, without me having to physically kick start it every time Win XP boots up:

Is there anything I can do that will ensure Win XP uses this profile automatically always, without me having to do it manually?
Thanks in advance

Did you click on Apply then OK? Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

Yeah APPLY and OK were both clicked.
The new profile is picked up when XP boots up (the login screen & even the desktop whilst the icons in the sys tray are loading) but then it defaults back to the original configuration once XP has fully loaded. And to get the new profile back I have to just click on the COLOUR tab and that’s all it takes to bring the new profile back (until the next boot up).
There’s got to be a setting somewhere??? (I hope)0 -
The various tabs for your graphics card are obviously different to mine but you need to save a colour profile which should be picked up and used. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

The profile is saved as it’s getting picked up on start up & then some how XP reverts back to the default profile. What’s strange is that the COLOUR tab only has to be clicked (nothing has to be selected or applied in there) and the new profile is back!

On my screen tab there is a 'Set as default' for the saved profile. Do you have anything similar? Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

I’ve got nothing like that under the COLOUR tab, however under the COLOUR MANAGEMENT there is a “Set As Default”

Previosuly there was nothing in here (as Defaullt Monitor Profile) & I added a whole load of profiles from the default location it opened up. But it’s not made any difference & I do not know where the profile I called my_profile is saved (did a search for it, but no luck). Thought maybe if I could find it, I could load it & set as default.0 -

Hello.
I had the same problem when I installed a new LCD monitor with an ATI Radeon 7000 graphics card. I solved this by uninstalling the graphic card drivers and re-installing the latest drivers from the ATI/AMD website.0 -
Have you got Adobe Gamma running in the background.
If you are using custom profile, adobe gamma must be disabled.Mansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j0 -
Hi Guys
Thanks for all the suggestions. Got it sorted in the end by downloading the latest catalysts for the graphics/video card.
Now XP starts up with the new profile and only briefly for around 10 seconds (whilst the items in the sys tray are loading) it reverts back to the default profile and then comes back & stays at the new profile
