I have found with npower that if you bounce a direct debit twice with them in one month they automatically cancel your DD, is the same system with all of these company's?

I have now chosen to pay one by DD and one by card but the strange thing is that when they cancel my DD they bill me each month for at least £10 a month less. surely paying by DD is cheaper?

Different companies have different policies, I think BG's is after 2 months of failed payments. I suppose it's better they cancel it than keep trying and racking up charges for you!

DD should work out cheaper, one the reason the payment may be lower is they have just cut their prices.

Thanks for the reply, its happened twice now and each time i pay just over £10 less at the post office using a payment card. In fact i phoned up to re do a DD with npower but with a different bank and even they couldnt work it out. If i carried on paying the amout they give me each month being £10 less then i acctually gain more than the £60 cash back for paying both gas and electric by DD
