DVLA petition?

The only reason we can be harrassed by supermarket/private carpark companies is that DVLA, a Government agency, sells them our private information. This is an outrage!
I am no good at new technology but I wish someone would create an online petition to get this 'sale of private data' stopped once and for all.
I have no objection to the police or other law agencies having such info supplied, but selling details of motorists private addresses to bully-boy parking scammers is not on. Does the Data Protection Act not apply anymore?
I've read that if a petition gets enough support, MPs have to look at the matter. It's worth a try.

At upwards of £2.5 million which the DVLA would have to find its not likely to succeed. Don't they also have it in the small print, which you/I sign, that they will sell to an approved company?I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

When my credit card was stolen and a criminal had lots of supermarket shopping delivered to his house before I could cancel it, the police would not give me his address due to 'Data protection.' All they would do was to give me a crime number for my insurance company claim.
Why should DVLA get away with selling the private information of law-abiding citizens??0 -
There is one already, not got many signatures. Not brilliantly worded, but it'll have to do as they don't allow multiple concurrent petitions on the same subject. Here it is:
http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/44858
It needs 100,000 signatures before they'll take any notice of it, so get signing! Only 99,742 to go!
Also everyone should write to their own MP. They want your vote and most of them take intelligent letters from their constituents very seriously indeed. Mine does, is very sympathetic to our cause, and harasses DfT and DVLA every time I ask her so to do. My next letter will be asking her to harass the Attorney General also over ParkingEye's behaviour towards the Court Service.Je suis Charlie.0 -
99,738 to go now! If you follow anyone famous on Twitter, how about tweeting to them about this petition, maybe they'll re-tweet it to their millions of followers!Je suis Charlie.0

The front page of the DVLA e-petitions website shows the six fastest-trending petitions. The 6th of them had 9 signatures in the last hour. Surely we can get more than 9 people to sign up within an hour and get it onto that front page? It'll really take off then. (I've already signed so can't do so again).Je suis Charlie.0

I did it this morning when I read it on Pepipoo. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Been done umpteen times before, to no avail.
Been known about for years, and nationally publicised, including MP involvement and FOI requests and a consumer forum now set up to discuss issues with the DVLA:
