Hi
This has been a very useful thread for me - I just wondered if anyone thought this case would apply to my situation...
I had a Halifax student account with an overdraft that I wasn't using anymore so had set up a £5/month standing order from my new Lloyds account to pay the overdraft off. I never used or checked on the account, I was just trying to slowly pay the overdraft off. This carried on from Dec 08 -Dec 09. Halifax apparently posted out a new overdraft charging structure in Aug 2010 but I never received it and consequently received overdraft usage charges and then after a couple of months unplanned overdraft charge of £150 as the usage charged took me over my O/D limit. I moved house in October 2009 and letters advising me I was over the O/D limit may have gone out in April 2010/May 2010 but I didn't get them (I did have tenants in my old house though and I visited the property regularly to collect mail). By them time I had gone over my overdraft limit I couldn't afford to pay to bring it back under so more and more charges were applied and eventually a default applied to the account in October 2010. I have made a telephone complaint a couple of times but never really aggressively tried to get the charges/default removed. Do you think I have a chance/should I use a similar approach to dadofdaisy?
Thanks for any replies.0
