dla renewal and car

wondering if anyone can help, my parents get dla and had applied for renewal, there Motability car is extended till august to cover till they hear but its getting close and nothing yet even though they applied months ago, they've chased dla, but nothing yet and Motability have said if they haven't heard by august car needs to come back (in a period that would be bang in the middle of there holiday)....no flexibility nothing and dla don't seem too be in any rush and when they ring for update just get told its being dealt with.......is there really no flexibility here to keep the car (hes a wheel chair/ adapted car user) until they get the renewal?......so they can decide what to do?

I think its being help up with the change to this other pip benefit.

- not that I'm aware of
- your dad has done well to [flexibility to Aug] get any extension
- ask / appeal to Motability again is the best advice
- and ring the DWP each week for his conversion to PIP [EM component] results

All of that heartache went when I bought my own car. I am due to be converted to PIP in August 2015, and quite honestly I know my HRC & HRM will go down the pan. Not being reliant on Motability helps me sleep at night. I don't care what they do now in 2015 - makes no odds to me other than the having to buy Road Tax at £490 a year!! What a rip off that is.

Maybe others should be considering buying their own vehicle now as the writing is on the wall?

My current lease ends in 2015. I will have no option but to order another car on the scheme, I cannot afford to buy my own car. I may lose it under PIP, maybe not. I drive with adaptions so funding to buy my own car would be more difficult. Motability is the only affordable option at the moment.

You really need to speak with Motability again to see if they are willing to agree a further extension. They've been very kind so far as they don't usually agree to extensions.
Keep ringing DWP for an update on his DLA renewal (he isn't being transferred to PIP yet as reassessment doesn't kick in until October). Hopefully you'll get a decision before the car is due to go back. Good luck

OP when did/does the previous award of DLA expire?
