MSE prayers and finger crossed please.. valuation man - been and gone

Hi all

Please can you say prayers, keep fingers crossed and genuinely send positive vibes through the universe...

My buyer's mortgage valuation has just been done.

Totally inscrutable and refused offer of coffee. In and out in less than half an hour

Said would do his report within 3 days and buyers would receive an offer 'based on that' (that could mean anything.

I wish you well with the process of selling your house.

Your surveyor must have been made of solid stuff to resist a coffee. Having seen the growth of all the coffee shops around it seems people will sell their souls for a coffee! :j

    Fingers crossed

Good luck. Must confess I've never ever, or would ever in the future, offer tea or coffee to buyer's surveyor. All I'm ever interested in is getting them out of my house asap. Being inscrutable towards vendor is all part of their job.

It sounds as if your buyers have only had a valuation done anyway, not a survey, so I certainly wouldn't be losing any sleep over that. Good luck anyway & hope valuation comes back at offer price.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

Not necessarily. Some of us have a reflex action to visitors coming in the door that boils down to "Put the kettle on and offer them a choice of drinks" and it will be an automatic reaction to anyone staying more than 5 minutes:rotfl:and yep...my buyers surveyor duly got offered (and accepted) a drink.

Maybe they were implying 'fresh coffee smell' (along with freshly baked bread)! And of course, the twigs in a vase might be concealing damp behind ;)

They had a full building survey done a few weeks ago. That was an ordeal = and he had SEVERAL cups of coffee! :p

Read his report today and he valued the house at the agreed selling price.... (praying like mad that the mortgage company does the same - would it be out of the ordinary for the building survey to come out with a different valuation to the mortgage valuation?) (however as for the building survey report ,apart from describing the house as 'beautiful' his report was 28 pages of horror. You just name any part of a house and I'll tell you what's wrong with it in mine!!!! Utterly merciless - He even warned them about things he didn't find... like Japanese knotweed!!)
