A warning to all and advice needed please!

My OH has been hinting that he wants the Blu-Rays for Game of Thrones - seasons 1 & 2. So, after a bit of searching, I came across this site www. ondvdmall .co.uk. Advertised as the 3D Blu-Ray season 1 & 2 box set of GoT for £31.99 - I purchased after a long and detailed look at the descriptions.

A few days later, I check my online banking. There I see a transaction for £33.40 - not £31.99. After checking my account on the website, it says payment made £31.99. Only a little extra I thought, so waited for the parcel.

It came today, 9 days after originally ordering - very slow as it was suppposed to be coming from the UK. Of course I then see it's in fact from China. So they have not only over-charged me, they've lied about where it came from.

Then came the big kick! My OH, excited that they finally arrived, unwrapped them and said "They're not official disks".

So we tested them - yep, the quality was fantastic - however, 90% of the special features didn't work. And they certainly weren't 3D disks!

So I rang my bank and asked for their opinion. They've told me I have to wait until it's been 15 days since the purchase.

My questions are:

Will I get a refund?
Will they be investigated for overcharging?
Will the bank take the counterfeit bit further, or do I have to contact someone myself?

I haven't emailed the "company" yet as I want to see what the bank does before I even suggest to them that I know the disks are fake. :(

Where were they bought? I know Play & Amazon are regularly flooded with fakes in the marketplace (particularly stuff like Disney) - mostly because unless you're paying attention it's difficult to know who you're buying through on both sites.

First port of call is email the website you purchased through to ask for a refund due to the counterfeit goods. If they do not respond then go through the bank and attempt to get a refund from them.

You'll probably have to report the counterfeit goods to trading standards, but lets be fair here, there's not much they can do - soon as they shut one of these operations down, another one is opened up straight after it.

As the original company is based in China, I'm not sure what you expected?

My guess for the price variance is that they list it on the website in GBP but actually take payment in a different currency and there was a slight exchange rate variation. They should however tell you about that - especially as some people would also get charged other charges due to foreign transactions.

There FAQ does mention declaring stuff as a 'gift' to avoid duty and it does have references in there to $ as well for various things.

The website is however registered to a UK person with a UK address.

They do have a complaints/returns procedure so the first thing to do is to contact them and ask. Unfortunately with most things these days even if the company are not upstanding you have to follow their procedure before the banks etc want to get involved.

Did you even read the post?

It's very clear that the OP was not aware that the goods were coming from China.

So they were presumably expecting that they would get what they ordered: non counterfeit disks.

I hope the OP gets satisfaction here, no home address on the website would have stopped me buying from them, but then I'm overcautious. I would think twice about buying from a red/white suited chap in the middle of December.

    Thanks for the replies everyone.

When I seen the higher charge on my account I emailed them and questioned it - they said they "dealt with" a company in China - that's when alarm bells started ringing. But I checked over and over, no where did it state these were counterfeit. I understand that a company wouldn't go shouting about it, hence why I put this as a warning too.

I'm pretty savvy when it comes to buying goods off the net - I seen it was supposed to be a UK company with a UK address so just thought better than I should have.
