Transfer funds with no account number??

Hi, just wondering in anybody can help me with a query??

I need to transfer an amount of money from my current account, to a Step account that I opened last year but have not used yet, apart from to deposit an initial £5.

I have online banking with Barclays and when I have just tried to tranfer the money I am asked for the sort code, which is fine, then the account number. This is where my problem lies, I only have the long 16 digit reference on the card there (is no other account number) and this is too many digits to enter, think it will only accept 8. Is there any way round this at all??

Thanks in advance

Carol

No, you need to check your documentation for the Step account - it should have your 8 digit account number on there. It really is best to check otherwise your money could end up elsewhere ....

You could try ringing Natwest but I doubt they will give you the info over the telephone ...

    Thanks Tori!!

Now why didn't I think of that first!! Have just managed to dig up one of the statements (showing a balance of a whole £5.00!!) and found the account number. I thought all debit cards had the account number on?

Alls well that ends well - thanks for the nudge!

    Best wishes

The 16 digit code is probably the IBAN. The last 8 digits should be your account number.

The OP mentioned that she got the 16 digit number from her card ... so I don't think it would be her IBAN
